Single Theme Course on Hiatus Hernia, Aurangabad
Hernia Society of India conducted a single theme course on Hiatus Hernia at Aurangabad on 9th and 10th December 2023. This was first such course focused on Hiatus Hernia under leadership of the HSI President Dr Vijay Borgaonkar. Amongst the faculty were Dr Deepraj Bhandarkar, Dr Sarfaraz Baig , Dr Ganesh Shenoy and Dr Jaydeep Palep. Online lectures were delivered by Dr Datta from Kolkata and Dr Emily Tucker from UK. Highlights of course were live demonstration of high resolution manometry, it’s interpretation with reference to hiatus hernia, presentation on impedance pH metry , endoscopy in hiatus hernia, technical tips, and complications in hiatus hernia surgery were discussed in detail. There were 4 live operative demonstrations of hiatus hernia surgery with different modifications. Some forty surgeons all over India and also from Bangladesh participated. Nearly 20 local surgeons also participated. The course was highly appreciated by delegates and there were suggestions for organising more such courses in the future.
